Review of Hannah Takes the Stairs (2007) by Hunter D — 09 Oct 2009

While it has some truly poignant moments and characters that show a great deal of potential, HANNAH TAKES THE STAIRS ultimately collapses under the weight of its own hipster attitude. Greta Gerwig shows incredible potential as an actress, however she telegraphs too much emotion and thoughts through facial ticks that are endearing at first, but soon become incredibly annoying.

Ninety percent of this movie is simply impenetrable, full of scenes where the character discuss what ultimately adds up to nothing and ends up adding up to a movie that has great promise, but little to offer.
