Review of Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) by David B — 06 Jan 2011
This is my all-time favorite film. And that's saying something for a big, old film geek like myself. It is also Woody Allen at his most positive and upbeat. There's a speech that his character has towards the end of the film that describes how watching a film (not matter how silly) can be a life-affirming experience.
I love that. Add wonderful performances, a rich and hysterically funny script, a classic jazz-standard score, warm, yet sophisticated cinematography, plus another Woody Allen valentine to New York City and you get a pretty fantastic film.
But if that wasn't enough, "Hannah and Her Sisters" has quite possibly the sweetest ending of any film. Ever. I just adore this film.
