Review of Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) by Pascal V — 15 Feb 2011
I recognize and appreciate Allen's direction, stories and character development, but I was left bored with this film as I couldn't relate to Hannah or her sisters. The humor within the Upper East Side pretension fell flat, but Allen's typical neurotic hypochondriac is packed with biting irony.
Caine is pretty good in his supporting role, but I'm uncertain he should have beat out Hopperâ(TM)s Hoosiers performance for the Oscar. Weistâ(TM)s supporting Oscar win is even more shocking as I saw nothing noteworthy in her turn as the ambitious, but misguided and unfocused sister, Holly.
