Review of Hanna (2011) by Mike J — 14 Mar 2012
A dark, twisted and wonderfully shot fantasy-esque revenge flick. Ronan did an incredible job playing Hanna and the rest of the cast was almost as fantastic. The soundtrack (score by the electronic duo, the Chemical Brothers) was incredible and particularly the music playing during the container yard fight scene hasn't stopped playing in my head.
The film also tackles issues such as growing up and finding friendship, but it does so in a way you wouldn't quite expect. It was quite dark and violent for a PG-13 film but none of it felt out of place or put in for the hell of it.
THe only thing I can reccommend to have made the film a little better would be to show what happens with the family that took Hanna in for awhile and if she sees them again. Fast paced, wonderfully scored and beautifully acted, this is a film that deserves far more recognition than it has gotten and is easily one of the best movies of 2011.
I'll be watching this one many more times..
