Review of Hanna (2011) by Steven C — 06 Apr 2012
"Hanna" is extremely stylish. In fact, you should see the film once just for the cinematography alone. Still, "Hanna" is a decent film. It has exciting action, snappy editing, a fierce Cate Blanchett, a watchable Saoirse Ronan, a fantastic score from The Chemical Brothers, and a break neck pace.
Unfortunately, the film never hits as hard as it needs to because there is a distinct lack of character motivation and development. You get the bare minimum so that not all is lost, but it still comes across as cold in the end.
But don't let that deter you, because "Hanna" is a very fun chase movie that's a cross between "The Bourne Identity" and "Run Lola Run." It's brisk, it's fun, it's all a tad meaningless.
(At least Joe Wright made up for his lackluster pervious effort, "The Soloist.").
