Review of Hanna (2011) by James W — 31 Oct 2013
Hanna has a talented cast with the likes of Cate Blanchett, Jessica Barden, Eric Bana, Olivia Williams and Soairse Ronan who all give great performances in this sharp and cool thriller. It is unlike anything thriller I've ever seen, it feels very basic and doesn't have the big scale you'd expect, yet it still works.
Hanna's escape from the facility was impressive and it was shot really well, which can be said for the rest of the action sequences. The only downside to this film is the uneven pace, there are big gaps in the film where not enough was happening, I wanted to see more action cause Soairse Ronan has the skills, but for a good thirty minutes you'll have to sit through boring dialogue.
Hanna isn't a complete misfire but it is a very lonely film with a cold atmosphere to it. But the fighting is magnificent, the twist end was a shock and it's easy to say the last twenty minutes is the best especially the the face off with Hanna and Marissa!
