Review of Hancock (2008) by Barry J — 12 May 2012
A wonderfully different kind of superhero movie. Will Smith is incredible as a depressed man with superpowers and a chip on his shoulders. This humorous movie throws us a plot twist in the middle of the story and by the third act turns melodramatic as it becomes more about love and sacrifice.
The movie succeeds mostly because of Smith as he mixes his, awesome action hero boldness, comic delivery and average person appeal to a flawed, self-sacrificing character.
