Review of Hancock (2008) by Sage R — 11 Apr 2013
I greatly enjoyed the first half. The idea of a superhero needing a PR agent to fix the damage done to his reputation from his own questionable acts I thought was both funny and novel to the action genre.
There's lots of laughs to be enjoyed and Jason Bateman was, in my opinion, the screen-stealer. The bad? The enormous curveball thrown at us halfway with Charlize Theron. I went from wondering what happens next to scratching my head.
It quite simply felt as if the writers had no idea where they were going with the plot. Bit of advice: start with the end and work your way back; it's the best way to give yourself a sensible plot.
Plus, I'm just gonna say it, the antagonist in this movie was terrible. A nobody with a hook for a hand that doesn't even pop up until the end? Atleast I got to stare at Charlize Theron for an hour and a half.
