Review of Hancock (2008) by James W — 15 Aug 2013
Will Smith is one of the coolest actors out there, I think this is his most outrageous and rude role he's ever been in. From start to finish he keeps on dishing out sarcastic and rude one liners even when there's blazing carnage going on in the background.
Hancock is a great movie, you could call it an anti-hero movie because he's a hero that nobody in the public eye likes as he causes tonnes of damage. Charlize Theron is badass as a hero in disguise, and Jason Bateman plays a great part as he's oblivious to his wife's powers.
The character Hancock himself takes a change, he becomes more respected and serious as does the films tone. The first hour is very funny, then after that it seems like the whole film goes dark. This tonal shift may put some viewers off, it did for me but at the end you realise it's for a good reason.
Hancock is a blast, you'll laugh, gasp in excitement and enjoy watching Will Smith insult everybody.
