Review of Hamlet 2 (2008) by Paul W — 20 May 2012
I consider myself a Steve Coogan nut and I had never heard of this three year old star vehicle - so my expectations were already pretty low before I even heard Coogans accent. The film flits uncomfortably between slapstick comedy, character drama and high-school musical spoof - in the process missing the mark on all three.
Some life finally appears in the climactic 20 minutes with the eponymous "Hamlet 2" performance, but even Steve Coogan sporting jeans and t-shirt on stage as a "sexy Jesus" can't bring the film back from failure.
