Review of Hamlet (1996) by Robert T — 23 Jan 2008
A four-hour masterpiece based off one of Shakespeare's famous work! Honestly, I found the art direction very beautiful, and the workmanship were top notched. The film also consisted of a great cast, and each brought their uniqueness to their characters, which was a plus.
The film had more substance and production development than past "Hamlet" renditions. The visuals were exciting and fun. Though I have to admit, the film was a little bit too long. 4-hours is long for a movie, though I had the privilege to view movie on television, if I had the option to view the full version in theater, I think I'll pass.
I'm not too much into Shakespeare's work, but there were some scenes that were too confusing to understand, and some were a tad bit too boring. But overall, one of the best renditions of "Hamlet" that is worth watching.
