Acting, script, and the palace was perfect, but one can't help but wonder how brilliant the movie would have been if Branagh put more money into decent set design, a little bit of CG, and stopped using obvious soundstages and REALLY obvious backdrops.
Guess the budget went into the whole 70mm filming ratio then.
