Review of Hamlet (1996) by Rajneel S — 16 Dec 2008
Ahhh Shakespeare and his biggest fanboy - Kenneth Brannagh - team up to bring the Bard's finest play - "Hamlet" - to the big screen in its complete, UNCUT, form. Extravagant, hugely self-indulgent, but incredibly fun to watch and dotted with more (mostly bizarre) celebrity cameos than you shake a skull at.
Dazzling, 70mm photography, great performances by Brannagh, Winslet, Heston and Jacobi and eerie atmosphere make this as good as Hamlet can on a flat-screen. Brian Blessed is extra-spooky as the ghost of the dead King Hamlet.
Loads of fun.
