Review of Hamlet (1996) by Scott L — 07 Jul 2009
Although quite lengthy, it doesn't exclude a single detail. This is the definitive movie of Hamlet, where it retains all of the original text of the play with exceptional sets, costumes, performances, and camerawork.
Kenneth Branagh was terrific in this film, however, the cast for some characters was rather weak (Guildenstern, Rosencrantz, and Laertes). All in all, this movie is pleasantly accurate and entertaining, a true marvel of film to capture Shakespeare's work so brilliantly, with minor downsides preventing a 5 star rating.
