Review of Hamlet (1996) by Jenna G — 14 Apr 2010
This version of Shakespeare's classic tragedy of love, murder and revenge is given the epic treatment by acclaimed director-writer-actor Kenneth Branagh. Featuring the full text of the play, an all-star cast, beautiful costumes, a gorgeous location and a haunting score by Patrick Doyle, this version is the best screen incarnation of the play, though Sir Laurence Olivier's classic black-and-white version is also very, very good.
The movie should not have been rated PG-13, but PG.
