Review of Hamlet (1990) by David P — 16 Nov 2008
Zeffirelli's Hamlet actually turned out to be pretty entertaining. While my main problem with the movie stems from how Zeffirelli chose to adapt the play (no Fortinbras? Why the Oedipal elements?), the movie still keeps the spirit of the play intact.
One other thing: while I was miffed at where the nunnery speech ended up, I did like the passion Mel put into the scene, culminating in a kiss that made my heart skip a beat. Ha ha!
