Review of Hamburger Hill (1987) by Al P — 03 Jun 2010
I remember seeing the poster for this when I was a kid, so when I saw it at the library I thought I would give it a chance. I did not really know what the story was about but now that I have seen it I think it is one of the better war films from its generation of movie making.
It has a good pace, well thought out direction, a great cast made up of a bunch of good actors still early in their careers such as Dylan McDermott and Don Cheadle and is not as predictable in who survives and who dies.
Everyone seems to compare it with Platoon and Full Metal Jacket cause they were all made within a year of each other, as for me, I liked it just a little less then Platoon and a lot more then Full Metal Jacket.
So if you are in the mood for an authentic looking Vietnam War film, then Hamburger Hill is the movie to watch.
