Review of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) by Spookie M — 29 Sep 2014
"THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS".
- 'Halloween 6: the Curse of Michael Myers' is a 1995 slasher film directed by Joe Chappelle () and sixth installment of the 'Halloween' film saga. Next to the third 'Halloween' film, that had nothing to do with serial killer Michael Myers, this 'Halloween 6' is my least favorite of the franchise. It explains why Michael Myers is immortal due to 'The Curse of Thorn', a symbol given to him by a demonic cult. It was the final chapter for actor Donald Pleasence (Escape From New York, Ten Little Indians) who passed away shortly after the production. With Paul Stephen Rudd (Anchorman, Knocked Up) and Mitchell Ryan (Hot Shots! Part Deux, Judge Dredd).
Six years have passed since the events of 'Halloween 5'. Michael Myers and his niece Jamie have been abducted by 'the man in black', who appears to be the leader of a druidlike cult. When the 15-year old Jamie gives birth to a boy, she is helped by one of the nurses to escape the compound. Of course it doesn't take long before her masked uncle shows up. Jamie is able to make her way to a deserted bus station, where she makes a phone call to the local radio station telling her life is in danger. Coincidently the retired doctor Loomis (Pleasence) who is visited by doctor Terence Wynn (Ryan), head of the Smith's Grove Sanatarium, hear Jamie's plea. Later that night, Michael is able to kill his niece, but is unable to find her baby.
The child is found at the bus station by Tommy Doyle (Rudd), the boy that Laurie Strode babysitted when she was attacked by her brother. Obsessed with getting rid of Michael Myers once and for all, Tommy has moved in next to the old Strode house. Convinced that Haddonfield's most notorious serial killer will come back, he keeps an eye out for his neighbors. But can the ultimate evil be stopped?
