Review of Halloween: Resurrection (2002) by Private U — 05 May 2008
Halloween>AIDS>Halloween: Resurrection. H20 was flawed but worked as a pretty definitive ending to the endless parade of Halloween sequels. But unfortunately, it made just a little too much money, and so this opens with a ridiculous retconned flashback version of that ending that must be seen to be believed. It's almost insulting, the way they write out one of modern horror's few memorable heroines.
I'm sure they thought they were being clever and commenting on reality shows and internet videos, but the webcams are a pretty obnoxious gimmick. There is something almost wonderful about how bad the acting is, especially Busta Rhymes, who has some truly choice dialogue and a kung fu battle(!) with The Shape that rivals the Odessa Steps sequence in Battleship Potemkin for most important thing ever.
