Review of Halloween Kills (2021) by Candlejack84 — 19 Oct 2021
I have been a huge fan of the series for about 25 years. I have seen all of them several times over and would class this as one of the more middling entries. * Slight Spoilers ahead* Every time they start to go down the supernatural pure evil forces route I lose interest pretty quickly as I find the notion of Michael being simple man and mortal much more compelling. I also noticed that Michael seemed more sadistic in the way that he kills people in this film which seemed out of place with his usual robotic nature. The kills themselves were all great and all you should expect from a slasher movie.
I know a lot of people weren't too fond of the various flashbacks but I personally felt that they added something to the story, especially the first one which obviously fills in a lot of gaps in the narrative. I also personally appreciated the cameo appearances of some of the characters from the original Halloween (78) movie.
All in all I think this entry was a lot weaker than the 2018 entry and I think the decision to go the rote that they chose with the supernatural element spoiled it for me considerably.
