Yes it has nothing to with Micheal (The story in a nutshell: Akkad, Carpenter and Hill wanted to continue making Halloween-themed films and after Micheal's demise in part II naturally they would move on to a different Halloween tale.
Audiences did not agree however.) but I still really enjoy this apocalyptic, genuinely creepy tale of Halloween terrorism.
