Review of Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) by David I — 28 Sep 2018
As the only Halloween without Michael Myers, Halloween III is often labeled the worst in the series...well, at least until Rob Zombie came along. Season of the Witch has become a cult classic over the years, with many people discovering it's actually better than a lot of the movies with Michael Myers.
This isn't the total bomb it was considered with first released, nor is it some underrated masterpiece. Halloween III sits comfortably in the middle. It's a decent movie, a fun movie, a campy movie, and does actually provide a few shocks and interesting ideas.
But it's also slow, ridiculous, and by the end of it you're ultimately left saying 'huh?'. Despite it's many flaws, Halloween III is a well-shot, atmospheric horror flick with a great performance from Tom Atkins and a terrific John Carpenter score.
No one should be put off by the fact there's no Michael Myers in this, Halloween III is definitely worth a watch!
