Review of Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) by James R — 28 Oct 2017
I'd always heard growing up about how terrible Halloween 3 is. The original thought on the Halloween series was that it would be a Anthology kind of series with different stories every year for each film.
The movie did really poor in theaters and a lot of people hated the fact that there's no Michael Myers (spoiler he's suppose to be dead anyways). The film follows a doctor named Daniel Challis (Tom Atkins) who is investigating a company called Silver Shamrock Novelties.
After a mysterious shop owner is killed at Daniel's hospital while clutching a Halloween mask and saying, "they're going to kill us all" Daniel begins his investigation. His journey takes him to Santa Mira, CA where he begins to learn more about the mysterious Silver Shamrock factory and its owner Conal Cochran (Dan O'Herlihy).
The film is not a slasher film at all and more in line with a damn near B movie kind of horror film. The deaths in this one are few, but the ones we do see are super vicious and violent. I enjoyed these moments and while I didn't exactly like the lead character Daniel too much by the end of the film I was rooting for the guy.
The movie is pretty corny at times, but I will say the storyline is pretty creepy still. Although, there isn't any Michael Myers this one is still not a bad little horror film. The film has some good moments, but It's a bit too slow paced and doesn't feature the most likeable lead character.
Overall, I still would recommend giving this one a look and give it your own opinion.
