Review of Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) by Shaun B — 06 Aug 2011
O.k first things first. No Michael Myers on show here. That needs to be put aside when watching this. I think its title is why it suffers most. The makers should have been applauded for(briefly) trying to move the series on.
The film isn't great in all honesty but it really isn't all that bad either. Screenplay duties we're handed to Nigel Kneale of Quatermass fame which gives the film a quite cool, old British Sci-fi feel to it. Another great score from Carpenter as is tradition. I'm sure people who have seen this will remember an insanely catchy television jingle for the Halloween Masks!
The films main problem is it gets really dull through large parts of the film. All in all I would say its slightly below average. Certainly not the worst of the series. 4/10.
