LOL, John Carpenter didn't want to do a sequel or have anything to do with one, so with no other option he got completely sloshed (wasted drunk to those who aren't familiar with certain slang) and writing the sequel.
Donald Pleasence is, has, and always will be Dr. Loomis. RIP Donald.
