Review of Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) by Marina L — 25 Oct 2010
Possibly the last best Halloween of the franchise. The whole movie, bringing back Jaime Lee Curtis giving you the old school feel towards the movie makes this movie just great. It's twenty years later, And he's come back for his sister Laurie once and for all.
Or is it once and for all? (Spoiler Alert) The main thing this movie drives me crazy, is the ending. The ending is straight forward, perfectly executed. Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) finally puts a stop to her brothers killings, once and for all.
She was absolutely ready for this monster. She played all the right cards, even with the ending stealing the van, then slicing his head off, leaving him headless and NO way of him coming back to life.
But, of course if you've seen the movie, you'd fully agree with this statement as well. During the ending it CLEARLY shows that there was NO way of Michael Myers returning from the beating he got from Laurie.
He stood on the ground, and that's it. But, no... in Halloween "Resurrection" the ending goes to complete crap. For Halloween Resurrection it starts with the beginning of ending to H20. Laurie is in the hospital/nut house or what ever you want to call it, And the nurses there are talking to each other explaining what happened in the story.
You're probably guessing "But how could he be alive if his head was chopped off" Well guess what? Michael Myers... Took a paramedic, and traded clothes. Crazy, isn't it? Laurie got the wrong person.
But how? The ending to H20 clearly shows it's Michael in every single form. The way she makes a quick stop with her van and makes him go flying out of the windshield and he comes up the classic way he did in the original.
Could a paramedic do that? Clearly not. Minus the fact they made another one after, This movie gets nearly an A for me since I truly enjoyed every minute of it. As for the sequel.. They should have added to H20 "3 years later" or something along those lines, and then do this garbage of an ending, But maybe it's a good thing they didn't.
