Review of Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) by Karen S — 01 Nov 2010
As stated on the cover/poster and title "Halloween H2O" (lame title if you ask me) takes place 20 years after the first Halloween massacre that took place in Haddonfield in 1978. It turns out that Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is very much alive and she has just changed her identity and now lives in California with her son John (Josh Hartnett).
Completely ignoring the previous "Halloween" sequels (Halloween 4, 5 & 6) Michael Myers (Chris Durand) has not been seen since the fire in the hospital, so Jamie Lloyd, the thorn cult and the murder of Dr.
Loomis never happened or existed. That really piss me of since I really liked those movies, and that brings down my rating. But even if I would ignore that, "Halloween H2O" is not all that great, the suspense and build-up of the first movie is not there and the whole movie comes of as copy of a "Scream" movie rather than a "Halloween" sequel.
The characters are pretty ridiculous and the movie might have some thrilling moments but is never really scary. "Halloween H2O" might be worth watching for some slasher horror fans, but for me it's nothing more than a letdown from the "Halloween" story and timeline.
