Review of Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) by Tiberio S — 09 Oct 2011
Familiar Myers postures and cliche slasher direction made by a director whose only mentality was 'when and where.' I thought the 20th anniversary of a familiar franchise, with the return of its star, would get more than a C-movie treatment.
Miner's film is not as dramatic as the studio seemed to be asking, nor is it as scary as bloodthirsty horror addicts are craving. For myself, and probably a lot of guys born around girlish mentality, the effect of a quality slasher film should at least have us toughening up to look past the illusion when it gets to be too much, as a Saw film may be capable of.
Not H20; I can easily lay back and have a juicy burger with ketchup and not be reminded of a monster tearing into someone's innards for dinner.
