Review of Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) by Rocknblues 8 — 31 Oct 2009
I don't really understand the hate. This is a very solid sequel that isn't as good as the original, but it's still worthy of it's exsistance. Instead of body count, it's a rather slow burning sequel that decent character development considering that it is what it is. I was caught off guard at first by it's restrained approach, but you also got to consider that this was right in middle the Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer days, and it has the feel of those films of sorts.
But it also has a slight feel of the early Friday the 13th days. That's really no surprise when you consider that Director Steve Miner was also the director of the 2nd and 3rd sequels. Which both provided some good suspense. The suspense here is also solid, and I would say this is the best sequel. I admit that I didn't watch Halloween Resurrection, but I'm certain it doesn't match this sequel.
