Review of Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) by Ian I — 16 Feb 2017
Again not bad and it improves the amount of scariness over its predecessor. It doesn't have the non-predictability, scariness, mystery, or suspense that the original two films had. The acting is decent, and Donald Pleasence's performance as Doctor Loomis is great as usual.
The film has the same plot as the fourth film. There are very few new ideas. There is no story involving Michael's past story, and Laurie Strode isn't in it again. Michael Myers' goes around and does the same thing as usual, and he also can't die as usual and that gets annoying because he's a human being not God.
There are some scenes though that are interesting and show that Michael actually still has some human qualities, but overall the film seems like something we've seen before. This movie did entertain me and it is well directed, acted, and decently written as a sequel.
Once again this film makes a good case for you to see the sequel. I just wish it would explain more about Laurie and when and how she had the child.
