Review of Halloween (2018) by Masterriley — 21 Oct 2018
Halloween (2018) is finally the sequel to the original movie fans have been waiting for. It washes away all the storylines of the previous sequels and is a direct continuation of the 1978 classic. It takes place exactly 40 years later when Michael Myers manages to escape prison and return to killing.
Jamie Lee Curtis gives a great performance as an older Laurie Strode and her character development feels natural and believable from the first film. Most of the other new characters are interesting enough as well, with a few standout characters that you really feel for when they get sliced by Michael.
The heart and soul of this movie though is the build up and execution of Laurie and Michael's confrontation. This is the best aspect of the movie. The final act of the movie is phenomenal with great acting, suspense, and music that really keeps you on the edge of your seat.
The film also has some really cool callbacks to the original that are similar yet different enough to work within the new story. If you enjoyed the first movie you will definitely enjoy this one as well.
