Review of Halloween (2018) by Olly S — 20 Oct 2018
There's enough concession here to please any fan of the franchise. The new score is exceptionally both fresh and familiar. However the sequels weren't the only thing that had their slates wiped clean.
This is not the Michael you'll recall from John Carpenter's original. This lean, mean and brutal version is much closer to the speed of Rob Zombie's then that of the slow-burning, stalking Shape.
If you prefer to see established characters that you care about become utilized as Michael's focus, and a slow-burning suspense similar to the original, you won't find that here. If you like a hefty bodycount with characters you don't care about at all, you're in for a treat.
