If you're a halloween fan this is definitely a must watch! I grew up with the series and halloween 1978 is still my all time favorite movie, it was followed however, by a lackluster halloween 2 that John Carpenter stated that he didnt want to make but it took him a 6 pack of beer every night to finish the script.

Alongside that was the terrible thorn movies and the 20 years timeline. This new one erases everything except the original 1978 and does a fine job, a must see.
