Review of Halloween (2018) by Kallen M — 19 Oct 2018
By far the best movie in the "Halloween" franchise, and while its existence is necessary on the original, this sequel surpasses it in every was save nostalgia. The love and respect that McBride and Green have for Capenter's original is always on display.
Out of genre movies, minus perhaps "Get Out", this is the best written that I have ever seen. Being able to maintain its suspense and horror while also being able to be a genuine piece of art and talk about serious social issues is a testament to their ability.
While maybe not being as scary as some thought this film is exactly what we need today. This film is not just a cash grab or gore fest but a wonderful example of modern filmmaking and the blurring of genres.
If you are a fan of the originals, never seen them or you just want to see a great movie I cannot recommend this enough.
