Review of Halloween (2007) by Shar B — 04 Nov 2013
Just bothered to see this in a long marathon of a variety of Halloween franchise movies. My first thought was that there was too much justification for Michael being pyschopath. It was much scarier when he didn't fit any profile.
In the original, what made Michael Myers scary was that he would just appear unexpectedly and disappear the same way. The violence was incidental to the anxiety caused. Rob Zombie's Michael is a big lunk who is simply violent and that's about it.
There is no finesse to this version. Even on the shoestring budget and group of fairly inexperienced actors, I think John Carpenter's version .trumps the reboot in every way.
