Although Rob Zombie is a good musician and good director, I still feel that he tries to play with our emotions too much. This one is no exception. Not that I hated it, but I also didn't love it. It was a lot rougher and more alarming than it had to be, and it only got even more out-of-control at the ending, where there is just too much screaming, even during the final cut of the film.
I found it to be kind of overly exploitive, not to mention distressing at some levels. I have yet to see Halloween II, but I'm sure it just as over-the-top as this one. Mixed emotions for this one.
