Review of Hallelujah (1929) by David J — 25 Jun 2010
The musical sequences were really something....i was surprised by the almost "German expressionism" of some of the lighting and sets, especially the church out in the woods at night...the IDEA of the story was good, the broad strokes of the characters interesting.
...but the movie was largely unmoving....i imagine that most people would only be interested in this flick as a "film studies" moment anyway these days.
