Review of Hall Pass (2011) by Theresa L — 24 Dec 2011
That woman needs something in her mouth.
Rick and Fred have been with their wives almost twenty years and currently find their relationship fairly mundane. Their wives have found their recent behavior more awkward than usual and decide to give them a hall pass that allows them one week to behave like they are not married. How will Rick and Fred respond to their new found freedom?
"I kissed your babysitter's aunt.".
"That's not so bad.".
"On the vagina.".
The Farrelly Brothers, directors of Me, Myself, and Irene; Shallow Hall; There's Something About Mary; Osmosis Jones; Fever Pitch; and Stuck on You, delivers Hall Pass. The storyline for this picture fits in-line with the recent additions to the genre like Hot Tub Time Machine, Old School, and Wedding Crashers. The dialogue is well written and executed to perfect. There is also interesting props utilization in classic Farrelly Brother fashion. The cast delivered solid performances and includes Owen Wilson, Jason Judeikis, Christina Applegate, and Nicky Whelan.
"How come mommy doesn't wear a bikini anymore?".
"Is it because of her fat ass?".
Hall Pass was a movie my wife DVR'd and we decided to watch this holiday season. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of entertainment delivered by this picture. The film had consistent content that kept me laughing throughout. It was not as good as the recent Hangover pictures but it was definitely worth viewing. I recommend giving this film a shot if you are a fan of Me, Myself, and Irene or There's Something about Mary.
"Large mouth vaginas!".
Grade: B.
