Review of Hall Pass (2011) by Michael V — 09 Nov 2011
Given the story line and the Farrelly brothers behind it just is a great combination with so much possibilities. So many things could happen here. And they just don't. The Farrelly Brothers flat out didn't deliver.
The script was fairly bland and crude, but not all that funny. If a comedy isn't that funny, then the movie is pretty much dead. I was just bored hoping to get to the end. No real likable characters except for the few moments Richard Jenkins was on screen.
Everybody was boring and sleeping through their performances. This could have been should have been The Bachelor Party for this generation. The only part I found funny was after the movie had ended and the British guy had a what if moment in his head.
There were some awkward scenes they put in, when Rick was in the hot tub, fell asleep and two naked guys came to help him. That scene was unnecessary. It felt like they were forced to make this and realized something nasty has to happen to appease their fans and threw it in.
Maybe in another movie that scene would have worked. Farrelly Brothers I want another Mary or Irene movie.
