Review of Half the Road: The Passion, Pitfalls & Power of Women's Professional Cycling (2014) by Emily C — 18 Sep 2014
This documentary is doubly frustrating: a) because of the content. It's infuriating to know how unfairly the UCI treats women, and b) because the film desperately wants for an editor. The film fails by telling the audience that women ought to be treated equally for nearly two hours, instead of showing the audience that women are equal through compelling cycling footage and storytelling.
It also lacks focus, veering confusingly into a gay cyclist's decision to get married; youth programs in developing nations; etc. SO glad to see SOMEONE telling this story -- just sad it wasn't told better.
Next time.
