Definately compelling and watchable in that "aww crap, this is gonna end badly" way. The perfromances are all quite terrific. Ryan Gosling continues to shine.
The ending however, was a little weak for me. It seems to suggest something without actually showing us how we got there. It feels a bit unearned. On the other hand, I was surprised that it didn't go a bleak as it seemed to be.
That kills one star, along with couple of scenes where Gosling's debauchery doesn't seem to make much logical sense. As in, "where did that guy handcuffed to the bed come from?".
Well worth your time, but definately not a "feel good" movie.
