Review of Half Nelson (2006) by Nate A — 24 Oct 2008
This is an excellent film about a teacher working with inner-city kids. This story has been told again and again, and I was pleasantly surprised that this film fell into none of the cliche's that are so prevalent in the genre.
Ryan Gosling deserves all the attention that he's gotten for this role, but I feel that there should be just as much praise given to his co-star Shakeera Epps, who is just as vital to the success of the movie.
What I liked best is that answers aren't given. A lot is left to the audience to ponder and decide.
