Review of Half Nelson (2006) by Peter F — 03 Apr 2011
I do hope that Ryan Gosling makes it as a big Hollywood actor someday, but I'll probably always remember him from indie works like this. Gosling gives a flawless performance as a drug addicted teacher, and fully understands the sense of culture-clash he's to give to co-actress Shareeka Epps.
Efficient camera work and a great soundtrack lift the story, as the script doesn't quite live up to it's novel concept. Half-Nelson is well worth it's critical acclaim, and superb character study by any means,.
