Review of Half Nelson (2006) by Allistairp. — 13 Feb 2007
Like many others have said, this movie isn't daring and this movie isn't cliche. It's one of the few films I've seen where the medium of film is for once truly justified; Something I hardly think about when watching a movie.
I can see this story on paper and go "eh", but on film it captures all these subtle naunces and magical moments that reminds you of why film is so great on such a base level. It's incredible because it seems all this movie wants to be is mediocre but it's too smart to play so dumb.
In my top 5 of '06 and I'm sure it'll be in everyone else's too if they see the damn thing.
