I thought this was a pretty moving film. I loved the entire feel of the movie and its lack of urgency. If you want an open and shut plot with gripping suspense throughout the duration of the film, this one isn't for you.
It's definitely a love/hate flick and I really enjoyed it but it certainly won't appeal to everyone or even most people. Too many indie movies try to go "outside the box" just for the sake of going against the grain or defying Hollywood.
Half-Nelson retains a unique identity without feeling forced or fake.
