Review of Half Nelson (2006) by Kathleen S — 10 Jan 2009
I was a teacher in NYC. It irritates me national critics called this movie realistic. The scene where he dances behind Drey at a school dance, his falling asleep in class, the excellent behavior and forebearance of his students, the lack of being found-out after his first day of hung-over non-professionalism in class are in no way realistic.
No teacher in his/her right mind would be caught alone in a classroom without the door open and others around, let alone driving a student home in his/her car or in their apartment.
