Review of Half Nelson (1985) by Adam K — 22 Dec 2008
Ryan Gosling should have won that damn Oscar! His subtly nuanced performance is one of the best I have seen in many years. If it wasn't for Daniel Day-Lewis' performance in There Will Be Blood I might even go as far as to call it the performance of the decade.
So Gosling is great but the movie is up to par with his performance in terms of storytelling and pacing and all things combined makes Half Nelson a mercifully cliche-free indie movie.
