A self destructing teacher fights his addiction while trying to do good by protecting a student of his from going down the unfortunate path he went. Ryan Gosling's incredibly real performance and chemistry with Shareeka Epps moves the story along with a slow but steady pace.
As Gosling teaches history to his students throughout the film, he strives to teach himself that a stronger force of good can take over his weak force of bad.
