Review of Half Baked (1998) by Critic M — 08 Jul 2013
It's no big surprise that this PSA for permastoners is squarely set in the 'rotten' sector of RT's lauded Tomatometer, since I doubt the collective of RT's critics circle has even seen this movie, let alone watched it while baked off their gourds.
Yes, it's an absurdly dumb movie, but it still somehow manages to be way ahead of its time for reckless comedy, expertly paving the way for newer stoner-friendly fare like Pineapple Express and Harold and Kumar.
This one gets 4/5 Abba Zabba bars. Dave Chappelle proves he's a thinking-man's stoner and manages to knock up a lot of real-life laughs while updating the time-tested Cheech and Chong tropes. You won't zone out to this one no matter how baked you get, and that's a good thing.
