Watching this movie is like being struck by an energetic bolt of happiness. It's simplistic to a degree, but it's fascinatingly entertaining to lose yourself into. The way I see it, Hairspray is the kind of movie that pulls at you asking you to let go of all of your inhibitions and just have a good time, and if you're not one to do that (aka Mr.

or Mrs. Socially Awkward at a party where everyone else is just having the best time ever while you stand in the corner) there's no joy to be found with this movie...or you for that matter.
